What defines us

About li:on bikes

li:on bikes develops premium bicycles for children and teenagers for greater visibility, safety, and freedom, enabling children to get around independently—especially on their way to school. li:on bikes was founded in 2023 by former professional cyclists Marcel Kittel and Tony Martin, who are parents themselves. The brand is backed by kids bike revolution GmbH based in Markdorf. The frames are Made in Germany, crafted from recyclable polyamide with recycled carbon fibers.

Visibility is ensured by a motion-sensor-controlled lighting system, consisting of a distinctive rear light integrated into the frame and a front light. Additionally, a reflective paint finish rounds off the 360° visibility concept. To extend the usable life of the bikes, li:on incorporates a specially developed adjustable stem that grows with the child. In doing so, the company is committed to improving road safety for children. In 2026, the bikes were honored with awards including the Cyclingworld "Best Kids Bike" award and the Eurobike Gold Award.

Why did we develop li:on bicycles?

"We are parents first, then professional cyclists. We know the joy when a child rides a bike for the first time – it's a milestone in a child's life and another step towards independence. But as former professional cyclists, we also saw a big gap in quality and innovation between children's and adult bikes. We want to change that to make this important moment in a child's life safer and more unforgettable."

How do we increase safety and enjoyment?

"Every parent knows the worries that come with letting their child cycle to school. We've experienced that. That's why we focus on making our bikes highly visible and as safe as possible to address these concerns. Beyond safety, we also want to foster a love for movement in children – by giving them a bike they look forward to, that evokes pride, and promotes a healthier, more active lifestyle."
